Three people found dead Wednesday morning after two shootings in Montgomery County

Three people were found dead after two separate but connected shootings Wednesday morning in Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Tricia Casey, 38, of Witt Township and Michael Cunningham, 40, of Litchfield, were found dead at a house in the 20200 block of Pine Trail in Witt. The sheriff's office was called there at 3:14 a.m. after a report of a shooting in which multiple shots were fired. Casey and Cunningham were pronounced dead at the scene.

Witt is about 52 miles southeast of Spingfield.

According to the sheriff's office, an investigation identified Matthew Casey, 40, of Nokomis, as a suspect. Matthew Casey was Tricia Casey's ex-husband. When sheriff's deputies arrived at Matthew Casey's home, they found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office is investigating the shootings.
