Three bold predictions for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017
What football fans love about the NFL is that anything is possible. Some teams are in better positions than others, players might be set up to have a breakout year or some team may go 0-16. The Jaguars are in a great situation that should help them have a great season as a team.
They added key players to their defense and boosted up the depth through the draft. While they still need to tighten up the weaker parts of their team, for the most part they look ready to go. There are three things that could happen for them that could affect the franchise.

1.) Leonard Fournette wins offensive rookie of the year
Fournette was the first running back taken in this years’ draft for multiple reasons. He’s big, fast and NFL ready. After a great collegiate career at LSU, Fournette will be looking to continue his success in the pros. Defenders will have a tough time bringing Fournette down which will allow him to make plays and crucial situations. If Fournette was to win this award, the Jaguars will have one of the best players in the game on their roster.
2.) The defense ranks in the top five
The defense looks much more stronger this season than it did last year. Newly acquired players Calais Campbell, Barry Church and A.J. Bouye should make an immediate impact on a young defense. Plus, having young stars Telvin Smith and Jalen Ramsey will be beneficial as well. If the defense can pressure opposing quarterbacks’, this will help the offense put up points to win games. Having a top ten defense is great to have, but the Jaguars have the talent to be a top five defense in 2017.
3.) Make the playoffs
The Jaguars haven’t seen the postseason since 2007. If Blake Bortles can keep his game at a consistent and productive rate, he could lead this team to the playoffs. The team overall has the talent, but they need to work together and make it work. Even though the Jags only have eleven wins the past three seasons, head coach Doug Marrone and executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin are looking to take the Jags to the playoffs, and as soon as possible.
