Marcos Rojo went from near villain to all-time hero when he avoided being called for a handball in the box and netted Argentina’s winning goal against Nigeria, all in the space of less than 15 minutes. With barely five minutes left on the clock, the Manchester United defender broke into the box and blasted a cross from Gabriel Mercado past Nigeria keeper Francis Uzoho to win the game for Argentina and keep Lionel Messi’s World Cup hopes alive.
It was a moment that seemed to encapsulate all the drama and excitement of the World Cup.
