Looking to add some intriguing young players who are showing serious upside of late? Don’t worry — Dalton Del Don has you covered with some pickup options to consider.
First up is Cleveland rookie Oscar Mercado. The youngster is known for his speed, but he’s been showing off some serious power of late. He’s also moved to second in Cleveland’s lineup, a lineup that is expected to be better in the second half with a fully healthy Francisco Lindor and a (hopefully) more productive Jose Ramirez. Mercado is available in more than 70% of leagues.
Luis Urias might not have had a great start to the season in the majors, but boy has he been making a case to be called up again, and it should happen very soon. The Padres prized prospect has hit .335 with 16 home runs in the minors to go with six stolen bases in 2019. With Ian Kinsler struggling in San Diego, the time to stash Urias for his impending call-up is now.
Jackie Bradley Jr. has apparently shaken off his early season hitting woes, batting above .300 in his last six games. He’s also running more, so his career-89% stolen base success rate combined with an improving Boston offense make JBJ a great add.
