There was a snake in the Portland Trail Blazers locker room before Game 2 vs. the Spurs (Photo)

As if the Portland Trail Blazers didn't have enough to worry about heading into Thursday's Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinals matchup with a San Antonio Spurs team that thoroughly dominated them in the series opener, now they've got to worry about dodging (potentially) venomous predators while they're getting dressed.

"We get in the lockerroom n its a damn snake, yea a snake in the lockerroom," Blazers sixth man Mo Williams wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. "Man we was scared as hell."

Yeah, I'd imagine so.

Blazers digital reporter Casey Holdahl has more on the slithering visitor, who was first spotted in the locker of reserve power forward Thomas Robinson:

“Man, me and Thomas at our lockers as usual,” explained Trail Blazers guard Will Barton. “We’re changing and he goes to put his shoes down, and he’s like ‘What the …?’ You know what he said. He’s like ‘There’s a snake under my locker, dog!’ And I’m like ‘Stop playing.’ He’s like ‘No for real! A real snake!’ And we just looked under there and there was a snake. I was scared!”

“I just put my shoes down and once I put my shoes down I double looked and I seen a snake sitting there,” said Robinson. “After that, I got away from it. I just seen something curled up and I looked again and it was a snake. No one believed me until they looked in there. It hissed, I backed up.”

On the bright side, Robinson said prior to Game 2 that he and his teammates needed to "find that one thing that pisses us off about" the Spurs. "They put a snake in my locker" seems like it fits that bill pretty well, so I'd suspect we'll see a motivated version of Robinson this evening.

Now, I know what you're thinking: Snakes + Spurs = Danny Green. But that's a bit on the nose, wouldn't you think? Besides, the Spurs shooting guard is a boa constrictor man, not a rattlesnake enthusiast. ("Chatter in the Spurs’ locker room was that it might have actually been a king snake rather than a rattler," according to Dan McCarney of the San Antonio Express-News.) My guess? Spurs assistant coach Sean Marks. A man who once froze Manu Ginobili's underwear is just the sort of devious prankster who'd get serpentine before a playoff game.

Luckily, nobody was injured, as arena security snapped into action, "trapping the snake by the head and removing the uninvited serpent with the help of a trash can." It remains to be seen whether the Blazers will be able to dispatch of their hosts so easily.
