The Five Pointer: James Anderson backs Jofra Archer to find consistency

Yahoo Sport UK

Yahoo Sport presents The Five Pointer, the daily video round-up of today’s big stories.

We start with football and England’s crazy 5-3 win over Kosovo in Southampton.

England struggled defensively and Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate called the display bizarre.

Raheem Sterling scored one goal and assisted another two. After the game he admitted he wants to reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to goalscoring.

Ronaldo starred in Portugal’s 5-1 win over Lithuania last night scoring four of the away side’s goals.

In doing so, the 34-year-old broke the record for the most goals scored in European qualifying that was previously held by Republic of Ireland’s Robbie Keane.

He also took his tally to 93 international goals and scored his eighth international hat-trick.

The final Ashes Test begins tomorrow with England hoping to at least draw the series 2-2.

England’s all time leading wicket taker James Anderson has said he has sympathy for bowler Jofra Archer, who drew criticism in the last Test, for bowling slower than he is capable of.

And finally, Australia coach Justin Langer has praised opening batman David Warner for being a good influence on the Aussie’s team despite only scoring 79 runs in six innings during the series so far.
