The Daily Sweat: The Orioles have lost 13 in a row, and it might be a while before they win
Even the worst Major League Baseball teams win once in a while. Even the Chicago Cubs got a win on Tuesday. Nobody ever goes that long without a win.
The Baltimore Orioles could be an exception.
The Orioles threw their best starter, John Means, on Tuesday. The Tampa Bay Rays are among the worst MLB team against lefties. And the Rays still beat Baltimore 10-0.
Baltimore has lost 13 in a row. They're going to stumble upon a win at some point. But it's hard to figure out when. They are huge +260 underdogs at BetMGM against the first-place Rays again Wednesday.
The Orioles have two games more against the Rays, three against a surging Atlanta Braves team, and then three against the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels are mediocre, and the Orioles better take one of them if the losing streak is still going. After the Angels, the Orioles get three more against the Rays, then six against wild-card contenders the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
This losing streak could last a while.
The Orioles aren't even winning on the run line of -1.5. Since winning on Aug. 2, they have lost every game by at least two runs. That's 13 games in a row losing by multiple runs. Brutal.
There won't be a ton of chances to bet against the Orioles unless you're willing to lay huge numbers on big favorites. But most nights you'll be able to confidently add their opponent to whatever parlay you're playing that night. The Orioles aren't going to put up much resistance the rest of the season.

Any afternoon action for MLB?
There aren't any great games, but there are five on tap for Wednesday afternoon. The best of the lot is the New York Mets taking on the San Francisco Giants. The Giants have rolled through the Mets the first two games of the series and are -155 favorites in the finale.
How about in the evening?
The two biggest games are in the American League. The New York Yankees are going for what would be a huge sweep over the Boston Red Sox, and the Yankees are -115 against the flailing Red Sox. Take the Yankees again (you had them twice Tuesday if you read The Daily Sweat). The Oakland A's and Chicago White Sox play the third of four games after splitting the first two. The White Sox are heavy -200 favorites, and that seems too high.
Who cashed tickets on Tuesday?
As said before, we were all about the Yankees on Tuesday as a small favorite in the first game of a doubleheader against Boston and a small underdog in the second game. They swept both games. The San Diego Padres continued to fade in the NL West race, losing to the Colorado Rockies while the Giants beat the Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers got another close win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
What's the best bet?
Jake Arrieta couldn't even stick with the awful Cubs any longer. They cut him and his 6.88 ERA. It says something about the Padres that they immediately signed Arrieta and announced he'd start Wednesday at Coors Field. Not only will Arrieta be starting, in hitter-friendly Coors Field, the Rockies are underdogs. They're +100. You know what to do.
