TGN Athlete of the Week: Travis Henke

Feb. 14—Northridge wrestler Travis Henke has been named The Goshen News' Athlete of the Week for the week of February 5-11.

In the 215 lbs. weight class, Henke ran through the semi-state bracket in Fort Wayne. With the help of one pin and three victories by decision, Henke punched his first ticket to the state finals in Evansville.

The junior moved to 40-1 on the season and received 28% of the fan vote.

Runner-up: Claire Payne

NorthWood junior girls basketball standout Claire Payne finished second in the fan vote, grabbing 23% of the vote.

Payne helped guide the Panthers to their first regional title since 2020 last weekend against New Prairie at Jimtown High School. Scoring a double-double, Payne finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Black Swish.

NorthWood continues its postseason this Saturday at the 3A North semi-state against Bremen at Huntington North High School.

Also nominated: Catie Brenneman

Helping Concord finish eighth as a team at the girls swimming state finals in Indianapolis, Minutemen sophomore Catie Brenneman placed fifth, twice individually last weekend.

Competing in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle, Brenneman was the highest Concord finisher while also playing a part on two of the three Minutemen relay teams.

She gained 18% of the vote.

Also nominated: Mitchell Miller

With Fairfield picking up three wins last week, Mitchell Miller led the way for the Falcons by scoring 55 points including a 30-point showing against Fremont last Friday.

He gained 16% of the vote.

Also nominated: Julie Mishler

Mishler's junior season ended this past weekend with her finishing as the runner-up in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She also joined in on both of the Wawasee relay teams helping the Warriors finished 10th overall as a team.

Mishler garnered 15% of the vote.
