- Let the lawyering begin. The fast-developing saga of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC became official on Friday when both schools voted to accept the SEC's invitation in 2025. That 2025, that's where the lawyers come in. It's hard to see how both schools are going to join the conference in four years. And they're going to both work very hard to get out of their current Big 12 agreement to join the SEC as quickly as they can.

That'll probably happen. We just don't know what year it is. Oklahoma and Texas want to get to the SEC sooner rather than later so they can pitch recruits on the idea of playing in the SEC and have players currently on the roster get able to play some SEC games as well. But right now, all parties involved are saying 2025, and the Big 12 is very upset about this, and they're going to fight tooth and nail to make sure that Texas and Oklahoma pay top-dollar to leave the conference.
