Texas lands at No. 7 in latest college basketball AP Poll

The Texas Longhorns moved up three spots to No. 7 in the latest AP Poll. This comes after erasing an 18-point lead against the then-No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs to win by four.

Texas’ exclusion from the Top 5 is curious, but certainly has a case to be ranked at least one spot higher. The Gonzaga Bulldogs, who the Longhorns defeated by 19 points earlier this season, rank one spot ahead despite having more losses than Texas.

The Alabama Crimson Tide has its own case to be ranked higher after ranking No. 4 in the latest poll. The Tide is 15-2 with home wins over Michigan State and North Carolina and a road win over No. 1 Houston. Nate Oats’ team has won each of its last four games by 15 points or more.

The Big 12 saw six teams make the Top 25. Kansas, Texas, Iowa State, Kansas State and TCU rank inside the Top 15.

Houston leads the rankings at No. 1 followed by Kansas, Purdue, Alabama and UCLA.
