Chris Beard is working his recruiting magic again.

On Saturday, the Longhorns picked up their first commit of the 2022 class in five-star point guard Arterio Morris.

The former Memphis commit is out of Lewisville, Texas and attends iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy. He is an electrifying player that has drawn comparisons to Ja Morant. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound point guard is ranked the No. 21 overall player in the 2022 class and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Texas according to 247Sports.

Morris chose Texas over Kansas, Oregon, and Georgia.

His commitment is just what Texas needs, as they will lose veteran guards such as Courtney Ramey, Andrew Jones, and Jase Ferbes after this season. Take a look at his sophomore mixtape to see how shifty and high-flying Morris is already.

Morris’ commitment is a great sign for Beard and his staff, as they are already attracting top high school talent without even playing a game yet. Texas’ 2022 class has the potential to be the highest ranked class since 2019, when the Longhorns hauled in the No. 17 class in the nation.
