Texas football must avoid regression after big win

The Texas Longhorns (7-4) have done well following tough losses. Steve Sarkisian and company followed Texas Tech and Oklahoma State losses with impressive wins over West Virginia and Kansas State.

The same was true after the TCU loss. Texas defeated Kansas 55-14 behind Bijan Robinson and dominant defensive play.

Even so, Texas has done poorly following strong outings. Sarkisian’s next test will be teaching his team how to handle success.

The Baylor Bears (6-5) present a huge challenge for the Longhorns following their own narrow loss to TCU. Baylor took the game to the wire before losing on a game-winning field goal as time expired.

While the Kansas win provides the temptation for a sigh of relief, the work is far from over for Texas. The Longhorns should beat their next opponent, but that’s usually the case every week.

The team will need to bring the same focused intensity it did for Kansas to escape the Baylor game with a victory.
