It’s the most wonderful time of the college football year, with early signing day approaching, and Christmas not too far behind.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff are working hard to round up some major pieces in the class of 2022, as early signing day is just 12 days away and counting. Texas has some major prospects on their Christmas wish list for the 2022 class, and are well into developing their wish list for the following class.

The Longhorns are looking to add depth at just about every position across the board, and that is something that they will continue to search for in the 2023 class, which currently ranks No. 26 in the nation according to 247Sports. Texas fans shouldn’t overreact to the ranking because as it currently sits, there is just one commit in the class in four-star safety Jamel Johnson.

There is still a long ways to go from being able to snag some more commits, and that will likely remain true going into next season, as recruits will want to see how Sarkisian and Texas can respond to a very disappointing season.

In light of the Christmas season, Longhorns Wire has compiled a wish list for Texas’ 2023 recruiting class that would make the Longhorns as happy as a kid opening presents under the tree.

Arch Manning, QB

Likely the most coveted and famous recruit in over a decade, Arch Manning is expected to continue the tradition of great Manning quarterbacks, and he is at the top of the list for Texas. The Longhorns badly need a talent like Manning at the quarterback position, but who doesn’t?

  • Five-star from New Orleans, Louisiana

  • National:1

  • State: 1

  • QB: 1

Johntay Cook II, WR

A wide receiver priority for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns. Cook has stated that it is Reuben Owens, Arch Manning, and himself as a group. At least that is the plan in theory. With how Xavier Worthy performed in his freshman season, Cook should rest easy knowing he will get ample opportunities if he commits to the Burnt Orange.

  • Four-star wide receiver from DeSoto, Texas

  • National: 56

  • State: 9

  • Wide Receiver: 11

Reuben Owens, RB

A one time Texas pledge, five-star running back Rueben Owens still seems high on Texas, and just wants to take some more time to decide where he will be playing his college football. If the Longhorns could add him it would be huge, considering they are bound to lose Bijan Robinson to the NFL, Roschon Johnson, and Keilan Robinson to graduation or the NFL as well within the next couple years. Having a playmaker like Owens would give Texas one of the strongest running back rooms again.

  • Five-star from El Campo, Texas

  • National: 28

  • State: 3

  • Running back: 2

Anthony Hill, LB

The linebacker depth at Texas seems to be getting thinner and thinner as each day passes, with people entering the portal, and there just being a lack of talent and. leadership. Anthony Hill is a very smart player, and also one of the more physical linebackers, two things Texas needs badly. He is being recruited by basically everyone, but Texas is one of the schools that has been in contact the most.

  • Five-star from Denton, Texas

  • National:12

  • State: 2

  • Linebacker: 1

Matayo Uiagalelei, DE

Even with the large group of defensive linemen Texas has incoming, they still need to get all the depth and playmakers they can get across the line. Matayo Uiagalelei is considered one of the best athletes in the nation, and although many might think Clemson is a lock, he has shown interest in a lot of other schools.

  • Five-star from Bellflower, California

  • National: 20

  • State: 3

  • Defensive End: 1
