Texas basketball ranks 3rd in recent AP Top 25 Poll, highest ranking since 2022

The Texas women lost Rori Harmon early on in the season, back when they were still ranked 5th in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. Losing the best player on your team is a good of an excuse as any to slide down the ranking, as the Longhorns could have done.

Never mind just maintaining the ranking, though — Texas landed as the 3rd ranked team in the nation according to the most recent AP Poll, the highest they've been since Nov. 14, 2022. It's the product of eight straight wins and four of the top seven teams losing this past week. The Longhorns are now second in the Big 12, right behind Oklahoma, and behind South Carolina and Ohio State in the rankings.

UT is slated for a marquee matchup vs. the Sooners tonight, with the Big 12 Championship on the line. OU can clinch with a win, while a Texas win will tie the two teams atop the conference with one game left to go in the season. Though they are on a hot streak, Texas' last loss came against none other than Oklahoma, as Lexy Keys' clutch 3-pointer ended a potential Longhorns comeback.

Here's how the rest of the Top 25 looked.
