Texas among top five schools for four-star safety Larry Turner-Gooden

Texas needs all the help they can get in order to bounce back from this horrible season that they are having.

They have a chance to add another elite talent to the roster in California native and four-star safety, Larry Turner-Gooden. The former Arizona State commit announced via Twitter that he would be making his decision on Jan. 8 at the All-American game.

Gooden’s top five schools include Colorado, USC, Maryland, Penn State, and Texas.

The Longhorns are doing everything they can to revamp a defense that statistically ranks as one of the worst defenses in the nation. Texas is also slated to be losing three starting defensive backs next season, including both safeties in B.J. Foster and Brenden Schooler as they are both graduating and being honored at the senior day ceremony.

It is obvious that defense is a point of emphasis in recruiting, as Texas’ 2022 class is made up of 13 defensive players out of the 23 total commits.

Adding Turner to the class would be a huge get, as the combination of his athleticism and receiver instincts will only help him thrive at the next level.
