Texas-Browns first quarter recap

Texans-Browns second quarter recap

Texans-Browns third quarter recap

Texans 7th drive continued (16 plays, 63 yards, 8:08) — Houston benefited from a huge face-guarding call on third-and-6 from the Cleveland 42-yard line. The Texans got a spot foul on pass interference against WR Brandin Cooks to the Browns’ 15. On third-and-goal from the 2-yard line, QB Davis Mills hits Cooks for a touchdown on a slant. Browns, 24-21

Browns 8th drive (9 plays, 82 yards, 5:40) — S Justin Reid came back out, but then got injured on the first play of the drive and had to go back into the medical tent. The Browns’ running game had worn down the Texans’ defense to this point, and RB Nick Chubb was able to score a 26-yard touchdown. Browns, 31-21

Texans 8th drive (3 plays, 0 yards, 0:33) — The Texans go three-and-out.

Browns 9th drive (3 plays, 8 yards, 1:46) — Guess who else goes three-and-out.

Texans 9th drive (9 plays, 55 yards, 1:34) — Mills displayed that he has enough skill to work with, if the coaching staff commits to him as the starter, which could be the case with the Texans coming off a short week. The Texans weren’t able to capitalize on Mills’ big third-down plays, and K Joey Slye missed a 41-yard field goal wide left.

Browns 10th drive (3 plays, -3 yards, 0:37) — The Browns take a couple knees and get to 1-1 on the season, same as the Texans. However, Cleveland’s .500 record feels a lot more optimistic than the Texans. Houston goes home to host the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football from NRG Stadium in Week 3.
