McLaurin is encouraging Dwayne Haskins to 'be ready' going forward originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Going into the start of last week, the rumors were that Dwayne Haskins may be traded after a bad start to his second year in the league. But now he may be on the cusp of another chance in Washington after Kyle Allen suffered a dislocated ankle injury against the New York Giants.

While Alex Smith will be the starter going forward, Haskins will serve as the backup and have a real opportunity to potentially see the field.

So, his former college and current professional teammate Terry McLaurin is going to make sure he's ready, should his name be called.

“You know, I’m even encouraging Dwayne to be ready. Because he’s going to be next man up as well," McLaurin said. "Everybody has to be all hands on deck and be ready for their moment That’s what we’re looking to do going forward."

Since Haskins' benching following Week 4 of the season, McLaurin has said how he wants his quarterback to stay in the moment and battle through the adversity. Rather than let the struggles get the best of him, the hope from McLaurin is that Haskins will continue to work and grow so that he can earn another opportunity.

There's potential for that second shot to come this season and Washington will need him ready. McLaurin will help make sure that's the case.

No matter who is under center when he takes the field, the second-year receiver has confidence that Washington will continue to compete.

"They have some great coaches in that room so I know they’re going to give us the best opportunity they can to win games," McLaurin said.
