Tennis betting: Bettor wins $173K via 7-leg parlay
One BetMGM customer had an extremely lucrative weekend thanks to a 7-leg tennis parlay.
The bettor put down $3,500 on seven matches on Sunday, backing five favorites and two underdogs. The bettor was on the correct side for all seven and yielded a return of $173,351 from BetMGM.
Five of the seven legs came on the men's ATP Challenger Tour. There were four favorites: Mirza Basic (-277) defeated Akira Santillan in straight sets, Artem Dubrivnyy (-175) defeated Vladyslav Manafov in straight sets, Edan Leshem (-140) defeated Sanjar Fayziev in straight sets and Oleksi Krutykh (-120) defeated Yishai Oliel in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-2).
The boldest of the five bets involved Ergi Kirkin of Turkey and Benjamin Lock of Zimbabwe. Lock was the underdog at +160, but he was the choice of the bettor. The match went three sets, including Kirkin winning the second set 7-6, but Lock ended up persevering 6-3 in the third set to keep the parlay alive.
There were also two women’s matches involved in the parlay. The underdog bet — Stephanie Judith Visscher at +120 vs. Polina Bakhmutkina — was a breeze as Visscher won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
The biggest favorite of the seven legs was Alexandra Osborne of Australia, who was -357 at BetMGM against Nicole Nadel of Israel. Nadel took the first set 7-6, before Osborne won the second set easily 6-1. The third and decisive set came down to a tiebreaker, and Osborne ended up pulling it out in dramatic fashion, 10-8.
Once Osborne prevailed, the closest call of the parlay fell on the side of the bettor.
