The Tigers ended 2021 with a bang.
Auburn picked up a 70-55 win over No. 16 LSU to both open up conference play and to close out the year.
Now, the Tigers enter 2022 with more fanfare and hype than potentially ever before. Come Monday, the Tigers should be inside the top 10 of the AP top 25 poll, with a ridiculous amount of momentum heading into Tuesday’s contest at South Carolina.
While the team may be feeling itself now, there are still a lot that Bruce Pearl & Co. have set out to accomplish in the new year.
Here are ten New Year’s resolutions for Auburn basketball.
Continue to reject teams at the rim

Auburn is currently first nationally in blocks per game (8.0). Should the Tigers have success in 2022, they will need to continue to protect the paint with intensity.
Have better shot selection

Auburn’s shot selection has been relatively poor through the first thirteen games of the season. This year, the team will need to make better decisions on the offensive end.
Get more out of Zep Jasper

Jasper has filled his role on the team well, but more consistent shooting will definitely aid him in SEC play. I have a feeling the Tigers will really need him to step up should Wendell Green Jr. get into foul trouble.
Play better at home in SEC play
John Reed-USA TODAY Sports
Auburn was only 8-5 at home last season, a mark that will need to improve in 2022.
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports
The January 22nd matchup between Auburn and Kentucky looms large. Beat the Wildcats, and the path to and SEC title potentially becomes more clear.
Survive road play in the SEC
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports
Auburn was 3-8 on the road last season, and with how competitive the SEC is, merely surviving with a .500 record or slightly better may be the best Auburn can get this year.
Ride Walker Kessler's dominance

Walker Kessler earned only the second triple-double in program history vs LSU. Auburn needs him to continue to shine this year.
Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports
Bruce Pearl is 1-3 vs Nate Oats. Auburn needs to make that record 3-3 in 2022.
Win the SEC regular season title
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports
The Tigers have their most complete squad since the Final Four team in 2018. Auburn has to cash in on the plethora of talent they have.
Win the National Championship

Auburn has the horses to get there.
