'Ten Hag needs something to keep his job' - is the FA Cup it?

The FA Cup is Manchester United’s only chance of winning silverware this season. Even at that, we know it is still a stretch with our form, injuries and the teams left in the competition.

It was a matter of close but no cigar in the FA Cup for the Reds last season and winning it this time around would be some feat. The sheer joy that would come from knocking Liverpool out and raining on Jurgen Klopp’s parade this weekend would give the fans a true achievement to use in Erik ten Hag’s defence.

This is undoubtedly United’s biggest game of the season and Ten Hag will surely opt for the strongest starting line-up he has available. Every game between now and the end of the season ought to be considered a final. None of the fans should have sympathy for these players since they are the privileged ones who are talented enough to make a difference. We need a proper United performance on Sunday.

The uncertainty that surrounds Ten Hag’s job is not helped by United’s underwhelming performances on the pitch. I think he needs something to keep his job whether it is winning the FA Cup or qualifying for the Champions League.

A win over Klopp on Sunday would do the Dutchman the world of good.
