The Texas Tech volleyball team will try to end the regular season strong when the Red Raiders host No. 2 Texas in a two-match Big 12 series at United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech (17-10, 7-7) and Texas (22-1, 13-1) square off at 6 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday. Both teams have won four matches in a row, Tech's coming in sweeps three weeks ago at home against TCU and last week at West Virginia.

The Red Raiders are hoping to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.

Seven Tech seniors will be honored after Saturday's match. A short ceremony will be conducted on the court for Cadi Boyer, Kiari Gier, Karrington Jones, Brooke Kanas, Alex Kirby, Tatum Rohme and Audrey Tuttle.

Texas has won 40 matches in a row against Tech. The Longhorns need one victory to clinch a share of the Big 12 championship and two to win the conference regular-season title outright.

Women's basketball

The Lady Raiders embark on their first road trip of the season as they compete in the Van Chancellor Classic held at the Merrell Center in Katy.

Texas Tech (4-0) will begin its run of play with a 4 p.m. Friday contest against Ball State before taking on Old Dominion (1:30 p.m. Saturday) and New Mexico (4 p.m. Sunday) to close out the classic.

The Lady Raiders are coming off a convincing 83-57 win over Texas State, which saw several players step up with Vivian Gray out with a right ankle injury. Gray is wearing a walking boot, as she did earlier in the year on her left foot, and her game status is unknown.

A positive was having freshman Khadija Faye finish with a team-best 22 points on 9-for-9 shooting and a 4-for-4 outing at the free-throw line in the win over Texas State. She helped by reigning Big 12 Freshman of the week Rhyle McKinney who poured in 15 points as she shot 3-for-5 from the three-point line. Lexy Hightower (13 points) and Taylah Thomas (13 rebounds, 10 points) also chipped in.

SPC men's basketball

The Texans are looking to get over the .500 mark when they take on Collin County Community College at 7 p.m. Friday in Plano, Texas.

SPC (3-3) has won its last two contests, which included a 68-64 victory over Dallas College-North Lake.

Savion Gallion chipped in 21 points, while he was aided by Kieves Turner (16 points) and DJ Avery (14 points) to lead the Texans on the offensive end.

SPC women's basketball

The No. 5 Lady Texans are looking to forge another winning streak when they take on host Panola College at 3 p.m. Friday as part of the Panola College Thanksgiving Classic.

After dropping its first game of the year, SPC (5-1) secured a 56-52 victory over No. 12 Weatherford College last Saturday.

Sophomore Ashala Moseberry netted 20 points, while Celia Sumbane tallied 14 points, including 12 in the final 20 minutes. Raija Todd added 13 points.
