Louisiana Tech defeated Western Kentucky Saturday night in Bowling Green, KY by a score of 23-22.
J'Mar Smith had the best game of his young Bulldog career going 22-39 for 306 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
The lone touchdown reception of the game came on an 87 yard pitch and catch from Smith to Rhashid Bonnette. Bonnette led all receivers with three catches for 140 yards on the night.
Defensively the Bulldogs held Western Kentucky to 377 total yards. Jaylon Ferguson was the defensive star collecting two sacks on the night, including one that got Tech the ball back with 1:55 remaining to setup the game winning drive.
The Bulldogs held Western Kentucky signal caller Mike White to only 226 yards on the night.
With just 1:55 remaining J'Mar Smith marched the Bulldogs down the field in eight plays covering 55 yards.
Senior kicker Jonathan Barnes then connected on a 21 yard field goal to give the 'Dogs a 23-22 victory that proved to be the game winner.
Louisiana Tech (2-1, 1-0) will travel to South Carolina next week. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM on the SEC Network.
