The recently injured Emre Can returned to the training ground for the session on Friday afternoon. Marco Reus dropped out at late notice due to illness.

BVB coach Edin Terzic had already explained at the press conference on Friday lunchtime that both goalkeeper Gregor and midfielder Julian Brandt had been unable to train in recent days due to illness. The duo were also missing on Friday, meaning there are still question marks over their involvement in the game against Bochum on Sunday. Marco Reus also had to drop out at late notice due to illness two days before the first home game of the year against VfL Bochum.

Captain Emre Can, who missed the Köln game after taking a knock to his knee, returned to team training. Niklas Süle (back) and Mats Hummels (infection) had previously already trained with their team-mates again and were, as announced, also on the training pitch in Dortmund-Brackel on Friday.
