JARED QUAY: Happy Friday, America. We hope you got a good eight hours, because while you were snoozing, Team USA was grooving. Let's take a look at what you may have missed. Let's start with hoops, where the US Women's basketball team rode Serbia 70-59 behind double doubles from both Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart.

This was the 54th straight Olympic win for Team USA and now they have a chance for their seventh straight gold medal on Saturday when they take on Japan, the Olympic host. Over to the sand for the women's beach volleyball gold medal match between Team USA and Australia. The A-Team of April Ross and Alex Klineman took over the game early and never gave it back, topping the Aussies in two straight sets, bringing home the gold. After taking home a bronze in Rio, the Americans are back to the top of the podium in beach volleyball.

Meanwhile, the US women's indoor volleyball team dominated Serbia, sweeping them in straight sets to advance to their first ever gold medal match. They'll take on the winner of Brazil-South Korea and the finals on Sunday. In the boxing ring, Keyshawn Davis will have a chance to end Team USA's 17 year boxing gold medal drought, as he won his semi-final bout by unanimous decision. Davis will take on Cuba's Andy Cruz for the lightweight gold on Sunday.

Team USA picked up medals in a few other combat sports as well. In freestyle wrestling, Gable Steveson is bringing home gold in the 125 kilogram division. Kyle Dake picked up a bronze in the 74 kilogram division. And in a karate, Ariel Torres earned a Bronze in the kata discipline for America's first karate medal.

Now over to Tokyo's Olympic stadium, where track and field competition continued at a furious pace. Living legend Allyson Felix led it off for the US, picking up the bronze in the women's 400 meter for her 10th Olympic medal, making her the most decorated woman in Olympic track history. Felix also matches Carl Lewis's record for most every track and field medals by an American.

Paul Chelimo kept it going with the bronze in the men's 5,000 meter, and in the women's 4X1 relay, Team USA recovered from a bit of a slow start to take the silver just 4/10 of a second behind the Jamaicans, who notched the gold. In the medal count, China is hanging on to the lead in the Gold medal standings over Team USA, but the Americans are running away with the total medal standings, leading China by 19 and more than 30 ahead of third place, ROC.
