Taylor Heinicke’s plans on Thanksgiving Day: Ham and Busch Lights

Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz and his wife will host several teammates for Thanksgiving dinner Thursday. One of those teammates is fellow quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

Heinicke replaced Wentz as Washington’s starting quarterback while Wentz was out with a fractured finger on his throwing hand. The two quarterbacks maintain a strong relationship despite Heinicke moving past Wentz on the depth chart.

As for Heinicke’s Thanksgiving Day menu, he made it clear he’s a ham guy.

“I’ll be going over to Carson’s with a number of players and their families,” Heinicke said. “I’m a big ham guy. I’d rather have ham than turkey. Obviously the stuffing and pumpkin pie at the end. It’ll be a good deal.”

So, what will Heinicke drink?

“Maybe a couple Busch Lights,” he said.

We aren’t sure if Heinicke’s joking in hopes of landing a beer sponsorship with Busch Light, but as we witnessed after Washington’s win over Philadelphia, Heinicke does like Busch Light.

Heinicke also discussed Wentz hosting him and his teammates for Thanksgiving dinner and spoke of what a great teammate Wentz has been.

“Yeah, he’s been a great teammate ever since he’s gotten here,” Heinicke said. “And even more so, he’s a great person. To have us all at his house, it’s gonna be really nice. We really haven’t had time to do that and have a lot of people outside of the facility and really get together and do this type of stuff. So, it’ll be really fun tomorrow, and I think we’re all gonna enjoy it.”

Wentz, being humble, gave all the credit to his wife for dinner plans.

Heinicke, Wentz and the red-hot Commanders host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.
