Tatum and McClung are the winners, LeBron and DK the losers of NBA All-Star Weekend I The Rush
Winners of the NBA’s annual All-Star Weekend included Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who posted an All-Star Game record 55 points in a win for Team Giannis, while Mac McClung became an overnight sensation after winning the Dunk Contest in spectacular fashion. Losers of All-Star weekend were LeBron James, who injured his pinky during the game in which his squad lost and Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf, who was asked to take a drug test after he impressed and took the MVP award in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. Plus, the first-ever All-Star Game player draft before tipoff was… a debacle.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO: Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh! Oh!
LUKA DONCIC: I can do that, too. Nobody gives me the chance.
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO: I'm a great GM.
JARED QUAY: For the first time ever, NBA All-Star teams were picked by the team captains live on stage just before the game tipped off, and it did not go smoothly, like Shaq and Charles Barkley bickering off-camera while their mics were hot.
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- Tell you something [INAUDIBLE], I'll smack you with this mic right now.
- Let me tell you what, ain't enough people in here to pulled me off of your ass, so leave me alone.
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
JARED QUAY: If that wasn't awkward enough for you, how about team captain Giannis Antetokounmpo trying to draft a starter when he was supposed to draft a reserve player?
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO: --superstar in the league right now, Ja Morant.
- I hate to break it to you, but he's starting
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO: I'm sorry, what?
JARED QUAY: And then there was LeBron mispronouncing Luka Doncic's name.
LEBRON JAMES: I'm going to go with Huka-- Luka Doncic.
JARED QUAY: Huka Doncic? That's a good one LeBron. What wasn't good for LeBron was that he hurt his pinkie on the rim in the second quarter and didn't return. Adding insult to injury was the fact that team Giannis was fairly dominant and got the W, with Jayson Tatum scoring an All-Star record 55 points and won an MVP.
- One on one. There you go!
JARED QUAY: But the biggest winner from NBA All-Star weekend was Mac McClung.
- Who the hell is that?
JARED QUAY: Yo, I asked the same question. In the last two seasons, McClung has played for three G league teams before getting his first NBA call up for the 76ers just a few days ago. And he celebrated by doing this at Saturday's NBA dunk contest.
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- It is over ladies and gentlemen.
JARED QUAY: The 6 foot 2 undrafted guard out of Texas Tech blew the roof off the arena with huge hops and he won the whole damn thing.
- Oh [INAUDIBLE].
JARED QUAY: But not everyone loves Salt Lake City in the win column. Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf played in the All-Star Celebrity Game on Saturday night, and the big man threw it down.
- --for DK.
- Hey!
JARED QUAY: DK was flying high all night and his MVP performance of 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks got the attention of the NFL. DK posted a screenshot of a text message he got from the league, requesting he take a random drug test.
- No good deed goes unpunished.
JARED QUAY: Just because my man can do this, doesn't mean he's sipping on PEDs like gin and juice. The man's a freak of nature. Yeah, the video is probably fake. But at the same time, because he's such a freak of nature, you're not sure it's fake.
In fact, you want to see me do? It I'll do it. I can't do it as well, I may only get three feet off the ground. But I definitely will catch the ball, maybe not one-handed, maybe two hands, maybe I might not catch it--
