Tampa Bay sets offseason start dates

The offseason is in full swing, and it’s almost time for NFL teams to get back to work.

It’s coming sooner than later. The NFL draft is slated for April 27, but as Greg Auman of FOX Sports reported on Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will start their offseason workouts on April 17. OTAs will begin on May 23 and will continue through May and June and minicamp is set to begin on June 8.

The Bucs had a distinct advantage last year that they will not have this year. Last year, because coach Bruce Arians stepped down and head coach Todd Bowles took over, the team was able to start proceedings a week early. That won’t be the case this year, of course, as Bowles is entering his second season as Tampa Bay’s head coach. This season, a different NFC South team will receive that boon — because the Carolina Panthers hired Frank Reich this offseason, they’ll get to start on April 10.
