A tale of two loose-ball pursuits, starring Nate Robinson and Nikola Pekovic (Videos)

Ball Don't Lie

Denver Nuggets guard Nate Robinson is listed at 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, and has the reputation of being a very fun, feisty, entertaining spark-plug of a guy. Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic is listed at 6-foot-11, 285 pounds, and has the reputation of being a carnivorous harvester of souls.

Their differences become more clearly defined when chasing down loose balls near the opposing team's bench.

When Nate comes flying at you, you just want to hug him (especially if, like injured Golden State Warriors big man Jermaine O'Neal, you once played with NateRob):

When Nikola seems like he's going to come flying at you, on the other hand ...

Smart choice, Sacramento Kings. I know that 285 pounds of Montenegrin muscle with a few steps of momentum would sure make me want to get as far away from the spot as soon as humanly possible. Nobody wants to be the next contestant on that Shaq-in-Phoenix screen. Discretion is the better part of valor, even if it sometimes means you don't get a hug out of the deal.
