Bech is just a sophomore, but the fact that he was selected to appear at media days is a promising one. He may already be emerging as a leader in the receiver room. At his press conference, Bech praised LSU’s group of pass-catchers, saying anyone in that room has the chance to go off on any given Saturday.
Among other things, Bech said he was looking forward to playing in New Orleans in the season-opener against Florida State. Bech also spoke about Max Johnson, the addition of Kelly and what the NIL dynamics in the locker room are.
Here were the highlights and takeaways.
On former QB Max Johnson

Bech was asked about how he thinks Johnson will adjust at Texas A&M. He called Johnson a “very talented quarterback” and said he believes Johnson will do great at A&M.
Though the two haven’t spoken much, Bech said there’s no ill-will there and he wishes Johnson the best.
On Jayden Daniels coming to LSU
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
Bech said one of the most impressive things he has seen from Daniels is the speed, and he likes how Daniels can make things happen when the pocket collapses.
When it comes to the quarterback battle, Bech said players are just focusing on what they can control and he’ll leave it up to the coaches to make that discoing in fall camp.
On NIL and the locker room
“For us and our locker room, we don’t really talk about NIL much,” Bech said.
He added they see posts about it and hear about it now and then and teammates are supportive of each other making money.
On Brian Kelly
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
“He does everything very specifically,” Bech said as he compared Brian Kelly to a guy moving chess pieces.
Bech said Kelly is strategical in his moves and knows what the outcomes of his decisions will be. Bech said he really noticed this when Kelly was putting together his staff.
On where he wants to improve

Bech said he wants to get bigger, faster, and stronger to hang with the best of the best in the SEC. He said he realizes you can’t afford to take time off in this conference and that each guy always has to be on top of their game.
