Williams reiterates desire to re-sign long-term with 49ers originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Left tackle Trent Williams likely is the 49ers’ top priority to re-sign in the offseason.

And he is also in line to be the team’s highest-priced free agent.

Williams was named as one of three 49ers players chosen to the NFC Pro Bowl team. On Tuesday, he reiterated his desire to sign a multi-year contract with the 49ers in free agency.

“I don’t have any answers right now, but I do know there is interest on both sides, of course,” Williams said. “I would love to be here, and if the business works out the same, you’ll see me for years to come.

“And that’s what I hope happens.”

Williams said the sides have not discussed contract figures. The 49ers hold exclusive negotiating rights with Williams until the start of the free-agent signing period in March. He made more than $12.5 million this season.

The 49ers in April acquired Williams, 32, in a trade with Washington for a fifth-round draft pick in 2020 and a third-round selection in 2021.

In addition to making the Pro Bowl in his first season with the 49ers, he was selected seven times in nine seasons with Washington after entering the NFL as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2010 draft.
