Susan Collins Could Beat This Lawmaker in a Duel
Don't think you can shade Susan Collins and get away with it.
After being left out of Republicans' initial Obamacare repeal effort, three female GOP senators - West Virginia's Shelley Moore Capito, Alaska's Lisa Murkowski, and Maine's Susan Collins - said last week that they would not support the party's health care bill. On Monday, Rep. Blake Farenthold, a Republican congressman from Texas, blamed "some female senators from the Northeast" for the stymied legislation.
"If it was a guy from south Texas, I might ask him to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style," he told a Texas radio station. In other words? A duel.
After a committee meeting Tuesday, Collins was caught on a hot mic gossiping about Farenthold with an as-yet-unidentified male senator. The goods start at about 1:20:
MALE SENATOR on FARENTHOLD: "You could beat the shit out of him."
SUSAN COLLINS: "He's huge ... he's so unattractive, it's unbelievable." pic.twitter.com/hyw6fKU15E- JM Rieger (@RiegerReport) July 25, 2017
"Did you see the one who challenged me to a duel?" an audibly amused Collins asks. "Trust me," her colleague says. "You know why he challenged you to a duel? 'Cause you could beat the shit out of him!" Collins then gets a little petty: "He is huge," she says of Farenthold. "He is so unattractive, it's unbelievable."
