Surging RCTC men post ninth straight victory

Feb. 7—La CROSSE, Wis. — The Rochester Community and Technical College men's basketball team continued its recent surge with an 89-67 victory over Western Technical College on Wednesday.

The Yellowjackets, who started the season 5-8, have now won nine straight games to improve to 14-8. They are tied for the lead the South Division of the MCAC with a 9-1 record along with Riverland Community College.

RCTC led Western Tech 42-35 at the half and then pulled away over the final 20 minutes.

Obinna Izoura led RCTC with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Aden Price and Jamison Lien were solid off the bench. Price had 15 points and six rebounds and Lien added 14 points. Roman Warmka had a strong all-around game with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Yellowjackets dominated the boards 40-23 and forced 18 turnovers while turning the ball over 11 times.

Western Tech falls to 7-15 overall, 0-10 in the South Division.

RCTC will host Ridgewater Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
