Slime cannons reload: Super Bowl will be 'Nick-ified' in halftime highlights
It’s time to get slimed.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get the Nickelodeon slime treatment during Super Bowl LV on Sunday. Following the success of the NFC wild-card game on Nickelodeon, the CBS broadcast will include “slime-lights” at halftime.
Nate Burleson, who was in the booth for the Nickelodeon broadcast, will present highlights from the first half with “Nick-ified” graphics and filters, Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported. Burleson re-tweeted the news.

Super Bowl 55 brings back slime
The wild-card matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears became the first NFL game to air on Nickelodeon last month and received rave reviews.
It featured a slime first down line, a slime-filled end zone dubbed the “slime zone” and a Nickelodeon Valuable Player award, which Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky awkwardly won by popular vote.
Every touchdown got a slime cannon treatment and the field goals featured Spongebob Squarepants’ face.

Players were even given unique player comparisons it’s doubtful they’ve ever heard before.

Nickelodeon and its iconic slime have taken part in Super Bowl week before with spot at the annual media day that went virtual this year because of COVID-19.
The broadcast was meant to bring the game to a younger demographic of fans. While it did that — despite an accidental f-bomb — it also brought nostalgia to an older crowd that grew up with 1990s Nickelodeon in all its orange VCR tape glory. Bring on the slime.
