Appalachian State baseball gets the chance to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA playoffs when the Sun Belt Conference tournament begins Tuesday in Montgomery, Alabama.

Appalachian State earned the No. 6 seed and a first-round bye in the 10-team tournament and will open Wednesday.

Coastal Carolina, which is ranked No. 8 in the USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll, earned the No. 1 seed. Southern Miss, ranked No. 24 in the poll, is the No. 2 seed.
