New Summerfield Softball run rules Oakwood

Feb. 29—NEW SUMMERFIELD — A seven run fourth inning made for a short afternoon of softball Tuesday as New Summerfield was able to level Oakwood, 16-6, in a game that was called after Oakwood batted in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

The Lady Hornets evened their record at 6-6 with the win.

Heidi Hernandez and Aubree Warren had big days offensively for New Summerfield.

Hernandez went 2-2, which featured a double, and drove in three runs while Warren collected two hits in two official trips to the plate.

Amy Aguilar and Kelly Espinoza clubbed triples for the Lady Hornets. Espinoza also knocked in a run and scored three of her teams' runs.

Warren secured the win in the circle for New Summerfield. She pitched a complete game, allowed one hit, struck out 11 and walked six.
