Suffield's Cipcic wins twice at rain-shortened Randy Smith-Journal Inquirer track meet

May 20—MANCHESTER — On an afternoon where Mother Nature showed her might, Suffield High senior Avery Cipcic showed he was also a force of nature at the 41st edition of the Randy Smith-Journal Inquirer Invitational track meet.

Cipcic won the 110-meter hurdles, the high jump and was leading in the long jump when the meet was halted due to inclement weather at Wigren Track.

Seven events in the boys division have been officially scored while four events in the girls division are official. Additional events will become official in the coming days.

Cipcic took the 110 hurdles in 15.46 seconds, 0.40 seconds faster than East Hartford's Davian Johnson. In the high jump, Cipcic won with a leap of six feet, two inches, two inches higher than Gyan Davis of Windsor.
