Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe announce launch of A Touch More production company

Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe have launched A Touch More, a production company that focuses on the "stories of revolutionaries who move culture forward."

The power couple announced the start of the venture created in partnership with TOGETHXR — the media and commerce company Bird co-founded — on Wednesday in an interview with Variety Magazine.

“As athletes, we know how powerful our platforms are and the impact we can have on the world,” Bird and Rapinoe said in a statement announcing the launch. “A Touch More is a manifestation of our values, and our desire to bring to the surface stories of those who shape and move culture forward. We’re incredibly excited for some of the projects we have in the works and can’t wait to share more about this next chapter.”

Both trailblazers in their respective sports, Bird and Rapinoe have worked outside their game to bring awareness to social issues, including equal pay for women in sports and advocacy for POC and LGBTQ+ communities.

Bird is a five-time Olympic basketball gold medalist and has won four WNBA championships. Rapinoe is a two-time FIFA World Cup soccer champion and has won an Olympic gold medal and a bronze medal.

“Megan and Sue both represent the power sport can have on culture,” said Jessica Robertson, TOGETHXR co-founder and chief content officer. “They also know the power of storytelling. It’s a dream come true for TOGETHXR to partner in bringing this studio to life. We can’t wait for the impact we will make together.”

A Touch More will create scripted and unscripted content, debuting with "30 for 30: Pink Card," a four-part audio documentary premiering Dec. 8. The series follows the lives of women in Iran fighting for the right to watch soccer.
