Stunned Andy Murray out of Wimbledon following shock defeat to Sam Querrey
Andy Murray’s Wimbledon title defence is over after a shock defeat to American Sam Querrey on Centre Court.
The world No. 1 was beaten in five sets and appeared to be in considerable pain towards the end of this quarter-final upset.
Querrey has form for knocking out reigning champions and inflicted the same fate on Novak Djokovic at last year’s Championships.

It all started so well for the Brit as he looked strong in the opening set at SW19, taking it 6-3 and showing no signs of discomfort.
He then claimed an early break in the second and it looked as though it would be business as usual from the Scotsman at the All England Club.

Questions over his fitness had been raised prior to the Grand Slam after he was dumped out of Queen’s at the first-round stage.
A niggling hip problem seemed to raised its ugly head again here as the tide turned in favour of the American and he took the second set 6-4.

Murray battled his way through a tie-break in the third before disaster struck and his serving slowed down considerably.
He could not generate the power in his legs to challenge the big-serving 24th seed and struggled to get across the court as the crowd were silenced.
Querrey took full advantage and cruised to 6-1 wins in the fourth and fifth to ensure we will have a new men’s singles champion on Sunday.
