Strong defense leads Berks Catholic to a commanding win over Muhlenberg in boys basketball

Jan. 12—Berks Catholic showed no signs of slowing down despite playing its second game in as many nights on Friday, as the Saints defeated Muhlenberg 64-39 in a Berks I-II boys basketball crossover game at Lloyd M. Wolf Gymnasium. After holding off a late comeback attempt from the Eagles for a 72-64 victory Thursday night, Berks Catholic's defense remained relentless against the Muhls

.The Saints (5-0 Berks II, 10-0) held Muhlenberg to just six points in the second quarter and took a commanding 35-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. Berks Catholic led 18-14 after the first quarter.

Senior guard Parker Nein scored a game-high 20 points for the Saints. Sophomore guard Kingston McKoy had 17 points and senior forward Joshua McKoy had 15 points for Berks Catholic.

The Saints' stifling defensive efforts carried on in the second half as they outscored the Muhls 22-9 in the third quarter. Nein made both of his 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the third.

Junior guard Shermar Killen scored a team-high 10 points for Muhlenberg (3-3 Berks I, 8-6).
