New Year's Eve stores open: Costco, Best Buy, Macy's, Lowe's, Target have shorter hours
If you’re looking to take advantage of end-of-the-year or semi-annual sales or want to use gift cards you got for Christmas on New Year's Eve, check store hours first.
Many stores will close early Friday, several hours before the ball drops, and have limited hours Saturday for New Year’s Day.
But unlike Christmas Day where the majority of the nation’s retailers closed stores, most will be open Saturday. The big exceptions are the same as New Year’s Day 2021: Costco, Sam’s Club, Trader Joe’s and Aldi.
Most grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations and drugstores will also be open with limited hours Friday and Saturday.

On New Year’s Eve, stock markets will be open while the bond market closes at 2 p.m.
