Stockton poet thanks hometown, humbled by ‘America’s Got Talent’ win

A Stockton spoken-word poet is back home Friday after winning NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” this week. Brandon Leake was named the season 15 champion of the show, winning $1 million and will headline a Las Vegas show. “Being back home feels great after the run on AGT,” Leake said Friday. “But in general, the biggest feeling I have is just humbled, knowing all that went on to get to that moment where I was able to win the show, knowing how much this city, the poetry community on a national level came out and supported and voted for me. This isn’t a solo journey.” Leake said he got an agent to help reach his future goals. But for the immediate future, Leake said he will take some time off. “I’m gonna take a break and enjoy some time with just my wife and me and my baby,” Leake said. “And then, get ready to just, get ready for the next phase of what life will be."
