Winners and losers
Stocks in the red today include Credit Suisse as it will end trading and liquidate its daily inverse VIX short-term ETN—the XIV; Cirrus Logic as the chip name reported a profit and revenue miss; and Cboe, with the exchange operator getting hit as investors worry about how the implosion of products like the XIV will hurt VIX-related trading volume.
Stocks in the green today include GM as the automaker announced fourth-quarter earnings today, beating on revenue handily; Micron Technology as the chipmaker raised its quarterly outlook; and Toyota, with shares getting a boost as the automaker raised its full-year profit forecast, citing improved sales and a weaker yen.
