Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor boys fall to Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick; Altamont boys down St. Elmo/Brownstown

Feb. 11—STRASBURG — The fourth quarter hurt the Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor boys basketball team on Friday night.

The Hatchets were outscored 21-12 in the period in their 56-55 loss to Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick at Stewardson-Strasburg High School.

Both teams were tied at 12 after the first quarter. WSS led 30-24 at halftime and 43-35 after the third.

Connor Manhart led the Hatchets with 19 points. Jackson Gurgel had 18. Aiden Sayers and Nathaniel Gracey each had seven, and Brody Hendrickson had four.

Carson Evans finished with 13 points. Gage Lorton had 10. Clayton Wojcik had nine. Kaidyn Calame had eight. AJ Radloff had seven. Wyatt Rueff had five, and Hunter Pope and August Cosart had two each for the Bobcats.

Altamont 61, St. Elmo/Brownstown 40

Altamont defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown in a National Trail Conference contest, 61-40, at Altamont High School.

Eli Miller had 13 points. Aden McManaway and Kaidyn Miller had 12 each. Kade Milleville had 11. Kaden Davis had eight, and Alec Jahraus had five for the Indians.

Adam Atwood had 11 points (4 of 9 shooting), 10 rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Cade Schaub had nine points (4 of 5), two rebounds, and one steal. Josiah Maxey had eight points (2 of 10), three rebounds, one steal, and two assists. Collin Maxey had eight points (4 of 7), three rebounds, and two assists. Brody Mason had three points (1 of 3), one rebound, one block, and one assist, and Lowell Wilhour had one point and one assist for the Eagles.

Altamont led 19-12 after the first quarter, 27-24 at halftime, and 47-36 at the end of the third. The Indians outscored SEB 14-4 in the fourth.

Hutsonville/Oblong-Palestine 52, Neoga 43

Neoga fell to Hutsonville/Oblong-Palestine (OPH), 52-43, at Oblong High School.

James Bullock had 14 points. Landon Titus and Trey Sheehan had 10 each. Braydon Letterle had four. Gavin Ray had three, and Luke Keller had two for the Indians.

Neoga trailed 14-11 after the first quarter, 23-20 at halftime, and 35-30 after the third. The Indians were outscored 17-13 in the fourth.

Toledo (Cumberland) 70, Decatur (Unity Christian) 38

Cumberland defeated Decatur (Unity Christian) in a Lincoln Prairie Conference contest, 70-38, at Unity Christian High School.

Kelby Bierman had 21 points. Isaac Vanetta had 10. Blake McMechan had nine. Zack Harmon had eight. Reed Miller had six. Kade McMechan and Kaleb Bierman had five each. Cameron Roedl had four, and Brett Wolke had two for the Pirates.

Cumberland led 22-8 after the first quarter, 49-17 at halftime, and 57-23 after the third. The Pirates were outscored 15-13 in the fourth.

Newton 56, Olney (Richland County) 39

Newton defeated Olney (Richland County) in a Little Illini Conference contest, 56-39, at Newton High School.

Caden Nichols had 25 points. Parker Wolf had 15. Dylan Gier had 14, and Drake Wolf had two for the Eagles.

Newton led 21-11 after the first quarter, 30-23 at halftime, and 45-28 at the end of the third. Both teams scored 11 points in the fourth.

Farina (South Central) 62, Mulberry Grove 40

South Central defeated Mulberry Grove, 62-40, at South Central High School.

Westin Neilson had 23 points. Jacob Smith had 14. Kage Hiestand had 12. Max Magnus had nine, and Evan Hoover and Seth Jones had two each for the Cougars.

South Central led 20-13 after the first quarter, 36-16 at halftime, and 49-26 at the end of the third. Mulberry Grove outscored the Cougars 14-13 in the fourth.
