Kerr admits thinking about T-Wolves' draft pick after win originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Steve Kerr is focused on the now. That's a big reason why he inserted Kevon Looney into the Warriors' starting lineup over rookie James Wiseman. Looney's ability to mesh with Golden State's starters gives them a better chance to win right now.

But he also has the future in mind. Especially when it comes to the Minnesota Timberwolves' top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Kerr admitted his thinking while talking to reporters Monday night after the Warriors' 130-108 win over the T-Wolves.

As part of the Warriors' blockbuster trade last season with the T-Wolves, Golden State received Minnesota's top-three protected first-round pick in 2021. If the pick falls inside the top three, it goes back to the T-Wolves this year and the Warriors are given an unprotected first-round pick for 2022.

The T-Wolves now are 4-12. By record, they would have the No. 2 pick in the draft and keep their pick. But due to the flattened lottery odds, Minnesota being one of the worst teams in the league will still give the Warriors a good chance at landing a high pick in a loaded draft this year.

It's understandable why Kerr and the Warriors' top decision-makers would have the T-Wolves' draft pick on their mind. But Draymond Green knows the players better not be thinking about it.

The Warriors will have their next chance to worsen Minnesota's record when the two meet Wednesday night at Chase Center.
