Stephen A. Smith has priceless reaction to Max Kellerman's Tom Brady take originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com
ESPN "First Take" co-host Max Kellerman's hot take in July of 2016 that Tom Brady would fall off a cliff and "be a bum in short order" has been the target of much criticism, and rightly so, considering the New England Patriots quarterback has reached two Super Bowls (won one of them) and won an NFL MVP in the time since.
Well, fast forward to Monday, less than 24 hours after Brady struggled in a Week 15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Kellerman tried to clarify his take on Monday's episode. His co-host, Stephen A. Smith, wasn't having it, and didn't even bother to pay attention.
Check out Smith's priceless response in the picture below.
And here's the full segment from Monday's episode.
The hot takes on Brady not being elite anymore are everywhere Monday, which is pretty standard following a Patriots loss. This time it feels a little different, though. The Patriots have lost five games in a season for the first time since 2009 and are in serious danger of not earning a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs.
Brady isn't falling off a cliff, but he needs to play much better if the Patriots are going to reach the Super Bowl for a third consecutive season.
