Boxer Stephen Smith almost has ear ripped off in loss to Francisco Vargas
Cue the Mike Tyson jokes.
Also, don’t scroll down if you you’re squeamish.
Super featherweight boxer Stephen Smith lost his bout Saturday night by technical decision in Las Vegas to Francisco Vargas. But that wasn’t his biggest problem on Saturday.
This was …

Or, if you prefer, slo-mo video.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did that happen?
Smith could not continue the fight because of that gnarly, bloody damage to his left ear that left him looking like Evander Holyfield. Except Vargas didn’t bite him. He apparently just beat him on the side of the head enough to rip his ear halfway off.
Best wishes to Smith on a full recovery.
