Stephen Colbert And Elizabeth Warren Talk Trump: “There Are Dog Years, Now There Are Trump Years”
Stephen Colbert welcomed Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren to The Late Show tonight to talk about Donald Trump — among other things. But right at the top, the two talked about how their lives have changed since Warren was last on the show — and since 45 took office.
Colbert pointed out that the last time Warren was on The Late Show, Trump was not the president to which she fondly said, “Oh, I remember those days.” She then asked, “How long has he been president now?”
“45 years,” said Colbert, “if my bone density is any indication.”
“There are dog years and now there are Trump years,” said Warren.
Despite the conflicting relationship that Warren has with Trump, Colbert said there rare occasions when the two actual agree on something. He referenced a recent tweet from the former Celebrity Apprentice host that said, “Pocahontas just stated that the Democrats, lead by the legendary Crooked Hillary Clinton, rigged the Primaries! Lets go FBI & Justice Dept.”
Pocahontas has become a name that Trump has given Warren — a derogatory insult that he gave to her during her 2012 Senate run. Colbert points out that both of them agree that the primaries were rigged.
She laughed it off and addressed the tweet saying, “Donald Trump thinks if he’s gonna start every one of these tweets to me with a racist slur, that he’s gonna shut me up. It didn’t work in the past, it’s not gonna work in the future.”
