Steph shouts out Brink, Stanford after national championship originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Sunday was a big night in the Curry household, as Stanford star Cameron Brink helped the Cardinal win the 2021 NCAA Women's National Championship with a 54-53 win over the Arizona Wildcats.

Brink is the daughter of Michell Bain-Brink, Sonya Curry's best friend and roommate at Virginia Tech, and Greg Brink. Brink is Sonya Curry's goddaughter and has known Warriors star Steph Curry since she was little.

So, of course, Steph had to give Brink a shoutout after she helped bring another title back to the Bay.

It was a wild season for the Cardinal, the unquestioned top team in women's college basketball. Due to Santa Clara County's ban on contact sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic taking place a week into the season, the Cardinal spent most of their historic title run on the road. They packed for weeks at a time, spent 100 nights in hotels, practiced anywhere they could and arrived at the San Antonio bubble primed to give VanDerVeer her first title in 29 years.

Brink was a big part of the Cardinal's domination this season. The 6-foot-4 freshman from Beaverton, Ore., scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds in the championship win over Arizona. Brink overcame a freshman season unlike any she could have expected and should be one of the stars of the women's game for years to come.

Brink idolized Curry growing up. He's always there to give her advice or pointers on how to improve her game. And now she'll return to Palo Alto having done something Curry has accomplished three times: Bring a title back to the Bay.
