Steph shuts up the haters, scores career-high 62 vs. Blazers originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Steph Curry haters are about to be very quiet.

The target of continuously unwarranted slander, Curry reminded his detractors of his greatness Sunday night when he scored a career-high 62 points in the Warriors' 137-122 win over the Portland Trail Blazers at Chase Center.

It was the seventh 50-point game of Curry's career, and his most since he scored 54 against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 27, 2013.

Curry was averaging 26.4 points per game entering Sunday's contest, so it's not as if he'd been struggling. But Golden State's rocky start to the season gave his critics the opportunity they seem to constantly want. Curry appeared intent on sending a message from the opening tip, though, as he poured in 21 points in the first quarter.

The Warriors needed Curry's big night, as Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combined for 60 points to keep the Blazers in shouting distance. Curry set another career high in the victory with 19 free-throw attempts, of which he made 18.

As expected, it didn't take him long to make a lot of people look foolish.
