Steph reveals Klay yacht outfit story amid 'positive' rehab originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Steph Curry has had to go this season without his Splash Brother on the court, as Klay Thompson has missed the entire season after tearing his Achilles in mid-November.

Thompson has been around the Warriors for most of the season, providing some much-needed levity and fire depending on the situation. Thompson recently showed up to Chase Center dressed like a sailor, which, of course, Curry had to roast him over. While the get-up seemed obvious, Thompson was surprised his backcourt mate understood the look.

"Well first, when I saw him in the locker room, he was so excited that I recognized that he was going for a certain theme and that I appreciated his effort, like that meant so much to him that he was like, 'Yes!," Curry told ESPN's Rachel Nichols.

With Thompson sidelined and a new supporting cast around Curry and Draymond Green, the Warriors sit 28-28 and in ninth place in the Western Conference with 16 games to play.

As the Warriors look toward next season and the hopeful relaunch of their dynasty, Curry is happy Thompson has been able to be around the team and in a good frame of mind as he grinds through a tough rehab.

"I know he's working his ass off to get back on the court, you know, as soon as possible and as strong and as much like himself, as he can," Curry said. "So anything that can keep him positive and locked in, that's what it's about right there."

The Warriors are beelining for the play-in tournament this postseason but will have to do so without rookie James Wiseman, who will miss the remainder of the year after undergoing surgery on his knee.

Curry will carry the Warriors as far as possible this season. But he'll be glad to see Thompson, boat shoes or not, return to the fold and help carry the load next season.
